Background and Objectives
Since 2017, the Angolan Ministry of Health has been working on the development and dissemination of the Maternal and Child Health Handbook through JICA’s technical cooperation “Project to Improve Maternal and Child Health Services through the Maternal and Child Health Handbook”. Many international organizations such as the World Bank and UNICEF, government agencies in the U.S., EU, etc., and CFAO Mobility Angola, a group company of Toyota Tsusho Corporation, have endorsed the significance of the MCH handbook and have cooperated with us in its dissemination. Taking the opportunity of CFAO Mobility Angola’s announcement to print more copies of the Maternal and Child Health Handbook in Braille and its support for the promotion of maternal and child health, we held a presentation ceremony to express our gratitude to all concerned for their cooperation and to encourage their continued efforts.

Contents
The ceremony was held at the showroom of CFAO Mobility Angola, where JICA Vice President Miyazaki, Angola Office Director Kadowaki, CFAO Mobility Angola President Nuno Borges, Charge d’Affaires Unno of the Embassy of Angola, and Vice Minister of Health Carlos Souza gave speeches of commitment to the cooperation in maternal and child health. CFAO Mobility Angola expressed its commitment to continue to support the printing of more copies of the Maternal and Child Health Handbook in Braille and the promotion of maternal and child health care.
The coordinator of the Public Health Department of the Ministry of Health reported on JICA’s cooperation in the field of maternal and child health, which culminated in the ongoing technical cooperation “Project for Quality Improvement of Maternal Care in Primary Health Care Facilities”. As one of the best examples, he reported that nurses and other health care workers in the local hospitals are confidently applying the knowledge they learned from the project to their daily work, and that the improved quality of health care services is well received by expectant mothers and their families.
