On July 11, Yusen Cruises held a naming ceremony for the new Asuka III and conducted an onboard tour at the Osanbashi International Passenger Terminal in the Port of Yokohama.

Asuka III will enter service on July 20 as the first new passenger ship in 34 years. She is 230 meters long, 29.8 meters wide, and has a draft of 6.7 meters, with a gross tonnage of 52,265 tons and a maximum speed of 20 knots. She has 381 cabins and 740 passengers, and her port of registry is Yokohama.

As for the Asuka Cruises brand, Asuka II (launched in 2006) and Asuka II will operate two vessels from this summer.

Asuka III rooms are divided into three classes: “Penthouse” (2 types), “Suite” (5 types), and “Balcony” (5 types), all with private balconies.

Designed in consideration of the Japanese lifestyle, all rooms are equipped with a bathtub for a relaxing soak in hot water, Asuka Cruises’ original Simmons bed mattresses, a closet, and a mini-bar with kitchen sink.

In addition, to accommodate work style, the Starlink satellite communication service has been introduced, and Wi-Fi is provided free of charge onboard the ship. In addition, in-room tablet terminals will provide real-time information on the status of facilities, onboard events, tours of ports of call, and other information.
