Makinohara City will open “Road Station Sorat Makinohara” (582-1 Sakabe, Makinohara City, Shizuoka Prefecture) on July 18. This is the 26th roadside station in Shizuoka Prefecture and the first in the city, and was developed by the city, which is known as a major producer of tea. The facility will be operated by Mura-no-eki and managed by TTC.

The site is approximately 6,700 m2 in area and consists of three buildings: an agricultural produce stand, a restaurant building, and a restroom building (available 24 hours a day) and rest area. The agricultural products direct sales shop sells souvenirs using the “Makinohara Tea” brand, seafood such as “Suruga Bay Shirasu” and “Yaizu Bonito”, livestock products such as “Shiraito Pork” and “Yumesaki Beef”, and fresh agricultural products from local farmers.

Also at the farmers’ market will be “Makinohara Satori Honten,” a store specializing in matcha sweets, and “Satori Bakery,” a bakery that bakes bread in the store’s workshop. The Makinohara matcha used in the store is selected and supervised by Marushichi Seicha, a long-established company founded in 1907 that was the first to produce matcha in Shizuoka Prefecture.

The menu includes matcha pudding in a variety of thicknesses from light to extra-thick, soft-serve ice cream sprinkled with matcha like a large snowflake, crispy Dai-Fujiyama crepes, o-no-cha melon bread, and o-no-cha cream raw doughnuts.

In the food and beverage building, visitors can enjoy gourmet foods that make use of local ingredients, such as “Makinohara no Chabatake Soba,” “Shirasu Dosari Soba,” “Yaizu Katsuobushi Ramen,” “Three-color Bonito Bowl,” “Shiraito Pork Gingerbread Set Meal,” “Charu Charu Chicken Set Meal,” “Yumesaki Gyu Yamatama Gyuudon,” and more.

In addition, there will be event space, playground equipment, and parking (71 standard vehicles, 2 for the disabled, 6 large vehicles, 1 EV charging totaling 80 vehicles, and approximately 7 motorcycles). Hours of operation are from 9:00 to 17:00 (different for some stores).

Access by car from major locations is approximately 6 minutes from Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport, 16 minutes from JR Kanaya Station, 23 minutes from JR Kikugawa Station, 25 minutes from JR Fujieda Station, and 35 minutes from JR Kakegawa Station.
