Meitetsu Urban Development Corporation will open Meieki Parklet (1-2501 Meieki Minami, Nakamura-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture), an urban plaza on the former site of Meitetsu Lejac, until the redevelopment project around Nagoya Station is in full swing. According to the special website, the period will be from 12:00 pm on August 8 to the end of November.
The Mayeki Parklet will be an event space where people can come and go, an area that will energize the community, and a symbolic space for future-oriented urban development. It will consist of two areas: the “parklet space” (approximately 700m2), a resting area with benches, tables, and automatic open/close shades, and the “event space” (approximately 770m2), which can be widely used for food and drink festivals, live music performances, corporate PR, etc.
The parklet space can accommodate up to three kitchen cars, creating a lively place where people can eat, gather, and talk naturally. In addition, the shades in the plaza are the first in Japan to use a pedestrian-friendly solar heat storage system, and the introduction of heat shielding pavement and CO2-free electricity will provide a comfortable time as a future walkable base that is friendly to both people and the environment.
In addition, there will be a general parking lot for up to 15 cars and plumbing and drainage facilities.
From August 29 to 31, the opening event will be the “Nagoya Meshi Festival” featuring kitchen car gourmet foods.
