New Nihonkai Ferry to Launch New Ship “Keyaki” on November 14. Maizuru-Otaru service

Posted on 2025-08-072025-08-12 by Editor in Chief

Shin Nihonkai Ferry Co., Ltd. of the SHK Line Group has set November 14 (Otaru to Maizuru) as the start date for the new vessel “Keyaki” to be introduced on the Maizuru-Otaru route. Reservations will be accepted from August 14, starting at 9:00 a.m. on the same day three months prior to boarding.

Based on the concept of Kyoto and history, Keyaki pursues an elegant, graceful, and warm interior design. Names and designs related to Kyoto and Tango are incorporated throughout, including “Oeyama,” a grill restaurant serving course meals, and “Hakuryu,” a forward salon with a tiered atrium.

The “Ryugu” screen room, which offers an extraordinary experience, is the first of its kind to be introduced on a ferry in Japan and features immersive content using projection mapping. Visitors can enjoy an emotional experience as if they were immersed in a story during the cruise.

In addition, with the introduction of “Ferry Wi-Fi” utilizing Starlink, high-speed Wi-Fi is now available in all passenger rooms (for a fee).

A special website for the new vessel, which includes scenes from the Keyaki’s naming and launching ceremony and detailed information, is available from today.
