Nikko Kanaya Hotel (1300 Kamihachiishi-cho, Nikko-shi, Tochigi), the oldest existing resort hotel in Japan, is offering a plan with a classic dinner and breakfast that reproduces the menu of 100 years ago (until March 31, 2026). The price per person per room for double occupancy is from 46,692 yen for a deluxe twin room in the main building.
It takes about 15 minutes on foot to the World Heritage Site Nikko Toshogu Shrine. The building, with its eye-catching Japanese architectural beauty and Western interior, consists of four main buildings (Honkan, Shinkan, Annex, and the second Shinkan), and each guest room, including the hotel’s typical “deluxe type,” has a different atmosphere.
Dinner was a “classic dinner” that was recreated from a selection of menus that were actually served at the hotel approximately 100 years ago. It includes lake black diamond with lemon, consommé soup, sea bream with yangko sauce or Nikko rainbow trout sautéed Kanaya style, crab croquette, beef filet steak, pheasant roti, vegetable salad, pudding, and coffee or tea after dinner.
For breakfast, the hotel offers an American breakfast. You can also enjoy local ingredients such as the hotel’s signature fluffy omelette, ham and bacon from Nasu Sangen Pork, and fresh Nasu milk.
