East Japan Railway Company and JR East Japan Urban Development will open an outdoor facility complex, Little Retreat Depot (also known as Rito Depot) (9-7-3 Kami-Ochiai, Chuo-ku, Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture) on November 29.
A 7-minute walk from the west exit of Omiya Station, this facility offers sauna, day camp, and BBQ in an extraordinary space on a former railroad line where railroad equipment still remains. Seven types of outdoor sauna huts are equipped with different types of stoves (wood, electric, steam, etc.), as well as a water bath and a toileting space. Both men and women are required to wear swimsuits, and there will be a “free” version for those who just want to drop by, and a “whole area reserved” version for those who want to monopolize the entire area. After the sauna, visitors can enjoy BBQ and beer while watching the Shinkansen and conventional trains running next door at “campass,” a campsite where even beginners can have fun.
In addition, an event space of approximately 600m2 will be developed in the area in front of the iconic locomotive depot at the entrance to the facility, which will be used for rentals and kitchen car stalls.
Hours of operation are 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
