Seibu Railway announced that it will operate a new restaurant train from March 2028. It will be developed and operated in cooperation with Barnibavi.
An initiative to further promote the value of the “Traveling Restaurant ’52 Seats of Bliss'” experience, which began operating in 2016 and offers full-course meals in the train. The trains will be newly built based on the “Laview” express train introduced in 2019, with four cars per train.
Designed by architect Kazuyo Sejima, the train will accommodate about 70 passengers. The interior will have a subdued gray tone to complement the scenery and food, and will be equipped with spotlights and table lights. The first car, No. 1, will have the company’s first private room (for about 8 passengers).
