Tokaido Shinkansen to Continue “Cars with Children” Service from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka during the Year-end and New Year’s Holidays. A total of 16 more trains than last year, making it easier to use.

JR Tokai will operate Nozomi Car No. 12 on the Tokaido Shinkansen “Nozomi” as a “Car with Children” during the year-end and New Year period (December 26 – January 4, 2026).

The “Car with Children” service is sold during busy periods so that passengers with children can board the train without worrying about their surroundings. This year, 16 more cars will be made available than last year, for a total of 64 one-way runs of 2 to 4 cars per day.

Seat reservations will be accepted from 10:00 a.m. one month prior to the boarding date at Express Reservation, Smart EX, LINE to EX, ticket counters at stations and travel agencies, and reserved-seat ticket vending machines. Seats with oversized luggage space” and “seats with oversized luggage corner” are not available.
