Staying at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel, a popular resort on Maui that offers the best of Hawaiian style.

Posted on 2022-12-14 by Editor in Chief

Kaanapali Beach with beautiful sandy beaches There are no direct flights from Japan to Maui, so you must fly from Honolulu to Kahului, where the airport is located in the center of Maui. The trip takes about 40 minutes (flight time is about 25 minutes), so it seems like it takes no time at all. There are a number of resorts on Maui, but Kaanapali to Lahaina, where the Kaanapali Beach Hotel is located, is a particularly popular area. Kaanapali Beach, located right in front of the hotel, was voted the second best beach in the U.S. by the TripAdvisor “Traveler’s Choice Awards” in 2021. Incidentally, Kaanapali Beach is a 45-minute drive from Kahului Airport. Molokai and Lanai can also be seen from Kaanapali Beach, a popular resort on the west side of Maui. humpback whales often frequent these waters from December through spring.

Ka’anapali Beach Hotel boasts Hawaiian style. There are a number of resort hotels along Ka’anapali Beach, but Ka’anapali Beach Hotel, which opened in 1964, has been recognized by the Waiaha Foundation (Oahu) as “the most Hawaiian hotel in Hawaii” and has won numerous awards from TripAdvisor, Hotels.com, and HAWAII Magazine. It has also received numerous awards from TripAdvisor, Hotels.com, and HAWAII Magazine, and is popular for its high quality. In addition to its high level of hospitality, the hotel is also characterized by its emphasis on passing on Hawaiian culture, offering daily cultural programs such as hula, ukulele, and Hawaiian language lessons. The hotel is also famous for its annual “Hula O Na Keiki,” a hula dance competition for juniors ages 5 to 17, the details of which are described in a separate article.

About half of the rooms have been renovated to make them even cozier. The hotel has room towers surrounding a courtyard facing the beach, with floors from the first to the sixth floor. The rooms are divided into ocean front view, ocean view, partial ocean view, and courtyard view, and the renovated rooms (264 rooms) are named Premium. The rooms that have not been renovated are called Traditional Rooms. The Kaanapali Beach Hotel also lost guests during the pandemic of the new coronavirus, and in order to invest in the future, the hotel is launching the Kealaula Enhancement Project in March 2020. The renovations have resulted in new guest rooms and the opening of a signature restaurant, Huihui, in the courtyard. Kealaula” means “dawn light” or “sunset glow” in Hawaiian, and represents the traditional glow of the past before the renovation and the new glow after the renovation.

Premium Ocean View with a stunning view The room I stayed in was the “Premium Ocean View,” and as the name implies, it was in a great location with the blue ocean stretching out before my eyes. It was worth the flight to come here, and I was immersed in the excitement for a while. It was also great to go out on the lanai (balcony) and sit on a chair and feel the comfortable breeze while relaxing. The interior design of the remodeled rooms was soothing, with many wooden furnishings, but the details had been upgraded to meet the needs of today’s travelers. For example, the outlets by the tables and in the bathrooms are equipped not only with AC power, but also with USB Type-C ports, which are used in many mobile devices these days, allowing for charging without the need for conversion plugs. The artwork on display was uniquely Hawaiian, with framed makau (fish hooks), mea kaua (weapons), shell leis, and fishing lures handmade by approximately 20 hotel employees, and several paintings depicting native plants. The colors of the wall surfaces are changed according to the tower, and the color in my room was reminiscent of the “red soil” that represents Maui.
