Hokkaido will resume national travel support on January 10.
Hokkaido’s nationwide travel support is called “HOKKAIDO LOVE! Discount” and runs from January 10 to March 31 (including check-out on April 1). The program subsidizes 20% of the price of a trip to Hokkaido (up to 5,000 yen per night for travel products that include transportation, and up to 3,000 yen for other travel products), and grants electronic coupons worth 2,000 yen on weekdays and 1,000 yen on holidays, which can be used to purchase souvenirs and other items.
Eligible travelers are those residing in Japan and must be able to present proof of vaccination with the novel corona vaccine or negative proof such as a PCR test. When the program was implemented last year (October 11 to December 27, 2022), there was a difference in the number of vaccinations required between residents of Hokkaido and residents of other prefectures, but this time, the number of vaccinations is uniformly three or more.
If the applicant is unable to present proof of vaccination, negative proof is required, and a test result notification within 3 days of specimen collection for PCR and antigen quantitative tests, and within 1 day of specimen collection for antigen qualitative tests shall be valid.
The website presents a table showing the differences from last year’s implementation.
