Emergency Relief Aid for Flood Damage in the Democratic Republic of the Congo -Delivery of Donated Goods
Emergency relief supplies provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for flood damage in the Democratic Republic of Congo have been delivered to the country.
The emergency relief supplies for the DRC arrived in Kinshasa, the capital of the DRC, on Monday, January 2, 2023, at 15:00 local time (23:00 Japan time) on Wednesday, January 18, at the Ministry of Social, Humanitarian and National Solidarity. From the Japanese side, Ambassador Kentaro Minami, the Japanese Charge d’Affaires to the DRC, Hironobu Murakami, Director of the JICA office in the DRC, and others attended the ceremony.
At the handover ceremony, Minister Mutinga expressed his deep appreciation for Japan’s prompt assistance, and stated that the goods would be delivered promptly to the devastated areas in Kinshasa, which had suffered extensive damage. In response, the Charge d’Affaires expressed his hope that the supplies from Japan would reach the victims as soon as possible and that the damage from the flooding would be contained as soon as possible.
The relief supplies provided this time will be delivered to the victims by the government of the country.
