The Indonesian government is promoting industrial development while focusing on fostering internationally competitive industries and utilizing domestic resources in private sector development, and has formulated a roadmap (Making Indonesia 4.0) for the introduction of Industry 4.0 in the context of the 4th Industrial Revolution. In addition, Indonesia has formulated a roadmap for the promotion of the automotive industry by 2035, which addresses such issues as upgrading the automotive industry with next-generation technologies, increasing the local procurement rate, and expanding exports. Against this backdrop, the government of Indonesia requested the Japanese government to support the realization of Making Indonesia 4.0 and the formulation of effective policies and action plans based on the roadmap for the promotion of the automotive industry.
This cooperation will help improve the effectiveness of the policy and action plan by conducting pilot activities, surveys, and analyses in the areas of promoting the use of digital technology in supporting industries, promoting R&D and design by companies, and promoting exports, as part of the roadmap for the promotion of the automotive industry prepared by the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia. By materializing the initiatives, we will support the realization of Indonesia’s automotive industry promotion policy and Making Indonesia 4.0, thereby contributing to strengthening the country’s international competitiveness.
