TAG Heuer has released a collaborative model with Porsche, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche Orange Racing. The price is 852,500 yen.
Based on the TAG Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph, this collaborative model follows the Porsche Limited Edition. It inherited the performance of the Calibre Heuer 02 movement, which is manufactured entirely at TAG Heuer’s Juvene factory and consists of 168 parts, including the column wheel and vertical clutch. This enables it to achieve chronometer performance and a power reserve of approximately 80 hours.
The design was inspired by the scorching flash of heat that the car emits on the asphalt, and the bright orange color was used throughout the watch. The color, which evokes fire as a symbol of speed, is used in details such as the Porsche logo on the bezel, the lacquer on the crown, the “azurage” counter, and the seconds hand. The case is treated with diamond-like carbon as a black treatment. The black dial finish was inspired by kinetics and speed.
It also has a custom designed rotor, representing a Porsche steering wheel. It can be seen through the sapphire crystal glass caseback and is marked with the words “Porsche” and “TAG Heuer”.
The calf strap is also orange. The packaging is a double name of TAG Heuer and Porsche.
