The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste on February 9 in Dili for a grant of up to 4.901 billion yen for the “Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport Development Project.
The project includes the construction of a new passenger terminal building to replace the existing passenger terminal building at Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport, the gateway to the capital city of Dili. The project aims to contribute to Timor-Leste’s sustainable economic growth by improving the convenience and safety of the airport and accommodating future increases in airline demand, thereby contributing to SDG Goal 8 (both job satisfaction and economic growth) and Goal 9 (create a foundation for industry and technological innovation).
