Yamaya Sangyo’s outdoor brand TSBBQ has released the Skeleton Axe TSBBQ-032, a hatchet developed in collaboration with Sakagen, an established gardening scissors manufacturer. It is priced at 13,200 yen.
The full-tang construction, in which even the handle is formed from a single steel plate, is said to be tough enough to be used without damage to the body even when batoning the head with firewood or a hammer to chop wood. The handle is partially hollowed out for a skeleton design, and weighs 619g, which is lightweight compared to a typical full-tang hatchet. Depending on how it is used, it can also be used for peg hammering, bushcraft, and other applications.
The handle is made of braided paracord and can be replaced. The blade is approximately 100 mm long, 298 mm long, and 6 mm thick, and comes with a cover to protect the cutting edge.
