Indonesia is a maritime nation with a long coastline consisting of many islands, and shipping plays an important role in the country’s economy. As a result, there is a great demand for the construction of new vessels and the repair of existing vessels for trade, energy transportation, maritime security, port maintenance, fisheries, and domestic inter-island transportation. However, the country’s shipbuilding industry is unable to meet these demands due to inefficient construction procedures and production management methods, as well as a lack of personnel with the necessary skills. As a result, the majority of ship procurement in the country relies on building ships at overseas shipyards or purchasing used ships, while domestic shipyards focus on repairing existing ships and building new government ships.
This cooperation aims to establish a continuous human resource development system and contribute to the improvement of shipbuilding construction procedures and production management methods in the country by developing a human resource development system and improving the shipbuilding skills of trainees through training programs in order to introduce efficient construction procedures and production management methods in the country’s shipyards.
