On March 2, NEXCO Central Japan and e-Mobility Power unveiled to the press a new charging facility (EV QUICK) at the Hamamatsu SA off-ramp on the New Tomei Expressway (E1A).
Until now, one charger (two parking spaces) had been installed at this SA, but now a new 150kW-class quick charger (1 unit x 2 units) and a new 6-unit multi-type quick charger (1 unit x 6 units, max. 90kW) have been installed. Operation began at 12:00 pm on the same day.
Ms. Naoko Yotsunagi, President of e-Mobility Power, who gave the presentation as the operator, said that the recharging facilities are “the largest-scale spots on the expressway,” and that “the time has come when many people can drive EVs with peace of mind (as more spots like this are installed). He added that the installation and expansion of rechargers at other SAs will reduce the “anxiety of waiting for recharging.
The company plans to install six quick chargers on the uphill line of this SA and four each on the uphill and downhill lines of Suruga Bay Numazu SA, each capable of charging at a maximum of 90 kW.
