The National Travel Assistance, which resumed on January 10 at the beginning of the year, will end at the end of March. Some prefectures sold out early and have already stopped accepting reservations, but some local governments have announced that they will continue the National Travel Assistance after April until the budget cap is reached.
The local governments that continue the program will continue to subsidize travelers from within and outside the prefecture with a flat 20% subsidy (up to 5,000 yen per night for travel products with transportation, and up to 3,000 yen per night for other travel products) and provide local coupons (2,000 yen per night on weekdays/1,000 yen per night on holidays) that can be used for purchasing souvenirs and for eating and drinking, in principle, with an electronic coupon. In principle, the coupons will be given in the form of electronic coupons.
Reservations for April and beyond will be made by hotels, inns, travel agencies, OTAs, etc., and sales will begin as soon as they are ready. Please refer to the link below for the conditions of application, such as the number of vaccinations and presentation of identification.
