In response to the July 1 enforcement of the revised Road Traffic Law, which newly defines vehicle categories for electric small mobility, Luup has launched a special website to help users better understand the new traffic rules in advance.
As electric kickboards and other electric small mobility devices became increasingly popular, each country was searching for rules for safe and convenient driving. In Japan, electric kickboards fall under the standards for motorized bicycles (mopeds) when combined with safety standards, so the riding rules for mopeds have been applied, but until now there have been no rules for the new group of electric small mobility devices that have appeared on the market.
In addition, because vehicles that do not meet safety standards can be easily purchased at electronics retailers and e-commerce sites, there has been no end to the number of violations by electric kickboard vehicles, which are not allowed to be driven on public roads.
The website allows users to review the new traffic rules, LUUP’s electric kickboards, and how to use them after the effective date, as well as review Luup’s safety initiatives and frequently asked questions, and contact us via the question form.
The website will be updated in preparation for the July 1 launch, so the website announced this time will be open to the public for a limited time until then.
