On March 29, Tourism New Zealand released a video produced in collaboration with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), a diving education organization.
Since March 29 is International Mermaid Day (World Mermaid Day), the film shows them swimming in the marine protected area of the Poor Knights Islands wearing monofins and mermaid tails, with the aim of promoting conservation activities such as ocean cleanup and seaweed restoration projects.
