On April 13, JR East announced its plan to install platform doors at 12 stations and 24 tracks in FY2023.
The company aims to install platform doors at 758 platforms at 330 stations on major lines in the Tokyo area by the end of FY2031. The company will proceed with the installation of platform doors at 24 platforms at 12 stations, including Omiya Station on the Keihin Tohoku Line, Totto Station on the Nambu Line, and Hachioji Station on the Yokohama Line.
Note that there are two types of platform door types: the wall-type “conventional type” and the “smart home door,” which has a simplified internal mechanism, lighter weight, and shorter construction period.
