Weekend Ekiben] “Hamasuta ☆ Cheering Lunch Box” at Yokohama Station

Posted on 2023-05-012023-05-01 by Editor in Chief

The “Hamasta☆Ouen Bento” from Saki Yoken, well-known for its shioumai, is a bento boxed lunch that is filled with the idea of making baseball more exciting at Hamasta (Yokohama Stadium)! The bento is sold only on the days when the home team plays at Yokohama Stadium. It is only sold on days when the home team plays at Yokohama Stadium. With a star-shaped side dish and a “☆” in the name, you would think that this is a cheer lunch for that team! It may look like it, but there is no “D” or “B” in it, and it is a bento that is all about Hamasta.

The star of the lunch box is, of course, Kakiyo-ken’s ace shioumai. At a quick glance, there are three pieces in the box: two are the traditional shioumai and the slightly larger one is a shrimp shioumai. Most of the bento sold by Sakiyo-ken contain shioumai, but shrimp shioumai is actually quite rare. It is filled with shrimp and has a plump texture and flavor.

And the contents of the Chinese bun with the glove painted on it are actually siu mai. This is the fourth siu mai. It is quite heavy and satisfying. Incidentally, there are also bat and ball designs in addition to the glove.

And the big fried item is …… which is also a shi mai menchikatsu. It is a deep fried shioumai flavored with menchikatsu and has quite a meaty taste and texture. This is the fifth shioumai. It lines up with the standard shioumai bento in that number.

In addition to a wide variety of shiomai, there is also cod in chili sauce, karaage, and more. Cod in chili sauce is pure white cod with a tangy chili flavor. It can be said to have a Chinese flavor that is typical of Yokohama, and it goes well with rice. And above all, it is suitable for the stadium as it is flavored to go well with beer. The yellow star-shaped side dish is the fluffy texture of Gomoku Shinjyo. The yellow pumpkin salad is also topped with star-shaped macaroni. Although it is called macaroni, its texture is chewy and a little different from ordinary macaroni.

According to the Saki Yoken website, this lunchbox is available from around 10:00 during day games and from around 14:00 during night games, so it is not available at all times. Yokohama and Saki Yoken are proud to offer four varieties of shioumai, and with limited sales hours, they are quite a rare character among the many shioumai bento boxes available. The “Hamasta ☆ Cheering Bento” is a little different from the standard shioumai bento. Whether you like or dislike baseball, why not give it a try?
