Omachi City, Nagano Prefecture, will hold various events under the title of “Kuroyon 60” this year to mark the 60th anniversary of the completion of the Kurobe Dam, one of the largest dams in Japan.
The city is located at the gateway to the Nagano Prefecture side of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, a world-class mountain tourism route, where visitors can experience the spectacular view of “Kuroyon,” which stands for the Kurobe River No. 4 Power Plant of Kansai Electric Power Co.
The Kuroyon 60 special site on the city’s official tourism website “Shinano-Omachi Navi” provides information on the latest events, including a tour of the Kanden Tunnel Fracture Zone, a Kurobe Dam lakeside walk, a night tour, etc. From June 1, a special exhibition will be held where visitors can see costumes used in the movie “Kurobe no Taiyo” and other valuable items.
The company has also launched “LINE Open Chat,” a service that allows users to ask questions anonymously and easily, and to freely connect with the local community when planning a trip, when in need of help, or when wanting to share a beautiful view.
