The Hawaii Tourism Authority will hold “HAWAI’I EXPO 2023,” an event to experience Hawaiian culture, at Shibuya Hikarie. The event will be held on the weekend of May 27-28, and admission is free.
The event will feature 50 booths from 53 companies, including airlines that fly to Hawaii, local hotels, activities to experience Hawaii, travel agencies, wedding companies, product sales, food and beverage companies, and other related businesses. In addition to the latest information, visitors will be able to participate in a gift drawing at some of the booths. Local artists will perform ukulele and hula shows on stage. Visitors will be able to experience the latest in Hawaii while staying in Shibuya for two days.
Mitsue Varley, Director of the Japan Office of the Hawaii Visitors Bureau, who spoke at the preview the day before the event, said, “This is the first time in four years that the event has been held in Shibuya. 53 companies and 50 booths have come together to bring a lot of the latest information. The overseas travel market in Japan is still recovering at about 30%, and it is important for the entire industry to work together to gradually increase the sentiment for overseas travel. This is because travel connects people with each other, and the excitement of travel changes one’s outlook on life. Travel is an important part of life’s activities.
We are taking a hard look at travel and launching a new advertising campaign, “Beautiful Hawai’i,” in June. With the concept of “Travel can make the world beautiful,” we propose to share the beauty of Hawaii, not only the beauty of each island, but also the beauty of human encounters and their touching stories,” he said, introducing the first campaign video.
