The Northern Horse Park (114-7 Misawa, Tomakomai City, Hokkaido) will open the newly built “Deep Impact Gate,” a monument named after the famous horse “Deep Impact,” to the public on June 9.
The sculpture was created by Kan Yasuda, a sculptor based in Italy and a native of Bibai City, Hokkaido. The work allows visitors to view the magnificent pastureland of Northern Farm, the birthplace of Deep Impact and his offspring, and to feel the trajectory of the thoroughbred by touching him freely.
Also, at the entrance of the wooden path leading to the monument, there is a famous board with the words of the owner, Mr. Masato Kaneko, and his wife, Mineko, who wrote their thoughts on the monument. Visitors can enjoy the seasonal beauty of nature, as well as the horses and the events that take place there.
