Adachi City and Adachi City Tourism Exchange Association will hold “Iris Festival” at Iris Swamp Park (2-4-1 Yanaka, Adachi-ku, Tokyo) and a gourmet event “World Food Plaza” at Higashi Ayase Park (3-10 Ayase, Adachi-ku, Tokyo) from June 3 to 4.
Shobu-numa Park is one of the best places in Tokyo to enjoy 8100 hanashobu (Japanese pepper) plants of about 140 species. On the day of the Shobu Festival, there will be an art performance with soap bubbles and music, a jazz concert, and other events. From May 26 to June 23, visitors will be able to view the iris from close up along a “wooden path” and the iris fields will be illuminated from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The “World Food Plaza,” commonly known as “Pigeon Plaza” in Higashi-Ayase Park, will return for the first time in four years, featuring cuisine from about 20 countries, including Turkish doner kebab sandwiches and Mexican tacos.
A stamp rally will be held along a 2-km course connecting the two venues, with participants who collect stamps at all four locations receiving a prize for completing the course. A free shuttle bus will also be available between Shobu Swamp Park and Koiwa Shobuen (4 Kita Koiwa, Edogawa-ku, Tokyo).
