JR West will hold a “Hakata General Rolling Stock Yard Tour” in Nakagawa City and Kasuga City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and will accept donations through “Satofuru” from June 1, 10:00 to July 31, 23:59.
A comprehensive cooperation agreement was concluded with both cities on May 30, and the tour will be held on September 2 as a return gift for tax payment to the hometowns. Visitors can fully enjoy the “world of Shinkansen” at the Shinkansen rail yard, which is normally closed to the public.
The tour takes you directly inside the Hakata General Rolling Stock Depot from Hakata Station, which is not normally served by special extra trains for participants only. The tour will take participants directly to the Hakata General Rolling Stock Depot, where they will be able to walk along the roof of the train on a deck (walkway) at the same level as the train and see the pantograph up close, as well as tour the cab and train maintenance facilities. The tour is limited to those 18 years of age or older.
