On June 27, Odakyu Electric Railway held a trial session of the “Hakone Travel Reservation System” on its official website.
The “Hakone Travel Reservation System” is an online reservation service that allows users to freely create their own travel plans, from Odakyu Romance Cars to hotels, local sightseeing and experiences, and day trips to hot springs, etc. The service was recently renewed in May, with new features.
The introduction of the “dynamic package” system, which has become mainstream among major travel agencies and OTAs, has increased the number of options available to users and made reservations more convenient and economical.
In this promotion, employees of Odakyu Electric Railway accompanied the participants on a hands-on tour and gave them a lecture on how to use the advanced reservation system before the summer holiday season.
There are three main points of ease of use. First, as mentioned above, “you can freely combine and book Romance Car, lodging, and sightseeing at the best rates,” which is essential for Hakone trips; second, by linking with digital ticket EMot, “you can manage everything from lodging reservations to the purchase of various tickets and their use on the day of your trip with a single smartphone; and third, “you can purchase special tickets for sightseeing and experiences along the train lines in Hakone and Odawara, making it easy to enjoy day trips in the city. The third is “the ability to purchase preferential tickets for sightseeing and experiences along the train lines in Hakone and Odawara, making it easy to enjoy a day trip from central Tokyo.
The “Hakone Travel Reservation System” allows users to log in with existing Google, Facebook, or LINE accounts without newly registering. In addition, travel applications, including Romance Car reservations, can be made 90 days prior to lodging (one month prior for Romance Car seat reservations) to allow users in distant locations to prepare with more time to spare.
The Odakyu Group has been developing unique content such as “Odakyu Travel” for travel reservations, “Hakone Navi” for tourist information, and Hakone Free Pass (for mountain railway, ropeway, cable car, mountain bus, Lake Ashinoko sightseeing boat, etc.).
Ken Fujita, General Manager of Odakyu Railway’s Tourism Business Development Department, said, “We will differentiate ourselves from other companies and major OTAs by offering a wide variety of products specialized for Hakone. In addition to taking advantage of our strengths in the railroad industry, we will continue to work with local businesses and governments to create attractive plans that only Odakyu can offer,” he explained.
