Zip Infrastructure announced on July 4 that its self-propelled ropeway, Zippar, was included in a regional public transportation “Re-Design” report by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s Council for Transport Policy.
Regional public transportation “re-design” is an initiative that aims to use regional mobility not only as a means of transportation for local residents, but also to create opportunities for the elderly to go out, reduce the number of traffic accidents involving private vehicles, promote tourism, improve the brand image of the city, and achieve carbon neutrality.
The company’s Zippar is described in the summary as “being developed along with electric scooters and flying cars as a transportation system that runs above the road and is not affected by traffic congestion, and unlike existing ropeways, the rope and gondola can be independent, allowing for free curves and branches. The ropeway system is being developed as a “ropeway system” that can freely make curves and branches.
Zippar is currently conducting test runs of the pre-model at its head office in Hadano, Kanagawa Prefecture.
