The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed the JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteer Dispatch Arrangement with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan on August 3. The signing took place in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, between Mr. Zauki Zaukizoda, Minister of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, and Mr. Toshihiro Aiki, Ambassador of Japan to Tajikistan.
With the conclusion of this agreement, JOCV members will be able to be dispatched to Tajikistan for the first time, in addition to the senior JOCV members who have been dispatched to Tajikistan in the past. Nineteen senior JOCV members have been dispatched to Tajikistan on short-term assignments, and the first long-term assignment began in July of this year, so it is expected that many JICA volunteers will be working in Tajikistan in the future.
