NEXCO West Japan has compiled a forecast of traffic congestion of 10 km or more on expressways within its jurisdiction during the Bon vacation period (August 9-16).

Many traffic jams are forecasted to occur on the downlink route from the 11th to the 13th, and on the uplink route from the 11th to the 15th. The maximum length of traffic congestion on the downhill route is estimated to be 30 km between 6:00 and 22:00 on the 11th, starting near the former Yamashina bus stop on the Meishin Expressway (E1).

The maximum length of traffic congestion on the upstream route is estimated to be 30 km between 6:00 and 16:00 on the 11th, starting near the Meishin Otsu Interchange.

In order to avoid intensifying traffic congestion, the holiday discount will not be applied from the 11th to the 13th. In order to ease traffic congestion and prevent accidents, the company is asking for cooperation in restoring speed on uphill slopes, keeping sufficient distance between vehicles, and not changing lanes more than necessary.
