On September 1, Mysurance began offering Overseas Travel Cancellation Insurance, which covers the cost of cancelled overseas travel reservations.
With the new coronavirus now classified as category 5 under the Infectious Disease Control Law and the Japan Tourism Agency’s “Policy Package for Full-Scale Recovery of Outbound Travel,” we expect demand for overseas travel to pick up.
In response to the concerns of overseas travelers about cancellations due to injury, illness, infectious diseases, and bad weather, the company has expanded the coverage of its Travel Cancellation Insurance, which has a proven track record for domestic travel, to include overseas travel and has begun offering this insurance.
Coverage is available for overseas accommodations, overseas tours, and overseas airline tickets, regardless of where the reservations are made. The Simple Plan covers hospitalization, hospitalization, and transportation delays for the person accompanying the insured. In addition, the Wide Plan covers cancellation of events that you are scheduled to participate in and the onset of infectious diseases (new coronavirus, influenza, etc.). In the event of cancellation due to a covered reason, the full amount of the cancellation fee will be covered up to the insured amount. Since the maximum number of passengers can be up to 9 and the insurance amount can be set up to 1 million yen, the company recommends this plan for honeymoon trips, cruise tours, and other expensive trips.
