Seibu Railway has updated its SEMTRAC (SEIBU MULTIPLE TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM: SEMTRAC), the operation management system responsible for safe and stable transportation on the Seibu Line, and has begun full operation.
In the first system upgrade in 18 years, the size and resolution of the operation display panel at the operation control center have been improved to enable centralized monitoring of weather-related operating restrictions and camera images at each station, thereby enhancing response capabilities in the event of rough weather or other abnormalities. Automatic platform guidance broadcasts now include English-language announcements for approaching trains, as well as information on intermediate stops and delays for honor trains. In addition, system maintenance efficiency has been improved through a significant reduction in the number of devices by consolidating equipment.
The scope of renewal in FY2023 covers the Ikebukuro Line, Seibu-Chichibu Line, Toshima Line, Sayama Line, Seibu-Yurakucho Line, and Yamaguchi Line, and in FY2024 the Shinjuku Line, Seibuen Line, Kokubunji Line, Haijima Line, Tamako Line, and Tamagawa Line will also be renewed.
