Sanriku Railway will operate the “Sanriku Railway Ihatove Train” as a regular train service from October 3 to 31.
A total of 73 illustrations based on poems and fairy tales by Miyazawa Kenji, a native of Iwate Prefecture, were solicited from all over Japan and will be displayed in the train. This is the third year for the project, which began in 2021 as a joint project with the Japan Advertising Production Association to promote Sanriku tourism through Miyazawa’s works.
The “Ihatov Calendar 2024” featuring 13 illustrations selected from the entries will be on sale from October 3 at the online store and at Santetsuya, located next to Miyako Station. The price is 1,000 yen.
