Prince Resorts Hawaii Inc. managed by Seibu and Prince Hotels Worldwide will undertake a major renovation of the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel (Mauna Kea Beach Dr, Waimea) starting in April 2024. The renewal is scheduled to open in the spring of 2025.
The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, opened in 1965, is the first comprehensive resort on the Big Island of Hawaii. In addition to the main tower with six floors above ground and one below, the hotel has five restaurants and bars, banquet facilities, an outdoor swimming pool, a golf course, and tennis courts. It is located approximately 30 minutes by car from Kona International Airport, which offers direct flights from Japan.
In addition to renovations to all 252 guest rooms, a spa with sauna and pool, a fitness facility with yoga deck, and a new kids’ area to experience Hawaii’s nature will be added. In addition, the terrace seating at the Manta restaurant will be expanded, and the deck at the pool area will be extended.
The main tower will offer expanded wellness facilities and more space to relax. All rooms in the “Beachfront Wing” on the 4th floor above ground will have ocean views, large furnished balconies and connecting rooms.
In addition, the hotel will partner with the Honolulu Bishop Museum and other local partners as part of its sustainability efforts. The hotel’s developer, Mr. Rockefeller, will restore and preserve his $1 million art collection, which will be displayed in the hotel and other public spaces throughout the resort.
