Announced “MOBIRY DAYS,” a new ticketing system for Hiroshima Electric Railway, successor to PASPY and combining QR code and IC

Posted on 2023-10-252023-10-25 by Editor in Chief

Hiroshima Electric Railway announced the name of the new ticket service to be introduced in September 2024 at Hiroden Group transportation facilities as “MOBIRY DAYS” (Mobily Days). The company also opened a website for the service and disclosed the main service details.

It is the successor to the PASPY IC card service, which is scheduled to be terminated in 2025, and will adopt the ABT (Account Based Ticketing) system, which eliminates the need for calculation processing by in-vehicle devices. However, the 10 cards that are compatible with the nationwide reciprocal use service will be made available in a different format. MOBIRY, a MaaS site that will be launched in 2020, will also continue to be available.

To use the service, you must register as a member via the smartphone application (to be released at a later date) or at the handling counter. When applying through the application, a credit card or a Hiroshima Bank account and an e-mail address are required.

The medium is either a QR code displayed on a smartphone or a newly issued IC card, and both can be held and used separately. When boarding and exiting, these cards are read by the device. Cash recharges will no longer be possible on board trains and buses, but cash recharges will be handled at the ticket counter.

Detailed service details will be available on the website in the future.
