NAVITIME Japan has launched the “Traffic Jam Live Camera” function for its “Car Navi Time”, “Traffic Jam Information Map by NAVITIME”, and “NAVITIME Drive Supporter for Sugotoku” applications. NAVITIME Drive Supporter for Sugotoku” is only available for Android, while the others are compatible with both Android and iOS.
Real-time images of congestion-prone major roads, mainly expressways, are distributed at 67 locations across the country. While a “live camera” function using still images to check road conditions has existed for some time, the “Traffic Jam Live Camera” provides 10-second videos updated every four minutes.
In “Car Navitime”, icons are displayed on the route searched by map, and in “Traffic Jam Information Map by NAVITIME”, icons are displayed on a simplified map, which can be tapped to access the video. In “NAVITIME Drive Supporter for SUGOTOKU”, you can watch the video by clicking the corresponding thumbnail from “Live Camera” in the menu.
