In Vietnam, industrialization and population concentration in urban areas have led to an increase in the amount of industrial and domestic wastewater in urban areas. On the other hand, the sewage system is not well developed and sewage is discharged directly into rivers, making water environmental pollution a serious problem. Specific factors contributing to pollution include the dumping of waste into rivers and lakes, untreated leachate discharged from waste landfills, and the almost untreated discharge of the majority of industrial and domestic wastewater.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in Vietnam, flooding of main roads during the rainy season and water pollution in rivers, lakes, and canals are serious problems. Therefore, the development of sewage and drainage systems is an urgent issue.
This cooperation will improve Ho Chi Minh City’s sewage and drainage systems, thereby increasing sewage treatment capacity and reducing flood damage, and contribute to improving the city’s urban and living sanitation environment.
