Breakfast at a cafe in Marche Aircalin offers direct flights between Narita and Noumea. The return flight departs at 1:00 a.m., so we have a full day of activities on the last day. So, we first went to the Marche, which we had been looking forward to. It is a market where locally grown vegetables, fruits, and seafood are sold. Most of the stores close at noon, so you might want to get up a little early. This time, my goal was to have breakfast at a cafe in the market. There were many regulars, whether market workers or locals, visiting the café one after another. The sight of them eating breakfast at the counter while reading newspapers and magazines reminded me of the breakfast I used to have in Tsukiji. After a while, freshly baked bread was brought in. It was just French bread cut in half and spread with butter and jam, but it was very delicious! Bread was good everywhere I ate in New Caledonia, so there was no way I could be disappointed at such a locally-oriented cafe. The amount of the café au lait bowl that the accompanying reporter ordered was amazing! With our bellies full, we wandered around the marché. It was fun just watching the local madam shopping with her marché bag in hand. If the weather is nice, there will be tents outside selling clothes and miscellaneous goods.
Finish your trip with the hotel’s finest treatment! DEEP NATURE SPA NOUMEA My last activity in New Caledonia was a spa experience at Le Meridien Noumea Resort & Spa, the hotel where I was staying. I received the “Signature Facial Treatment + Complimentary Back Massage (75 minutes),” which was a limited offer until October 31. First, a prone back massage. Followed by a superb facial treatment (which is the best). Then, I think I had a long and slow massage …… on my neck, scalp, arms, and even the tips of my fingers, but I don’t remember from the middle of the massage because I fell asleep because it felt so good. The price was 13,900 CFP (about 18,000 yen). There was a Japanese staff at DEEP NATURE SPA, and I was able to talk to them before leaving. I was told that “guests who do not check out late must want to take a shower after playing in the ocean or pool on the last day. In such cases, we recommend that you make a reservation at the spa. When I was having herbal tea after the treatment, several Japanese couples were coming out of the spa at the same time. Perhaps a spa treatment is a standard last day in New Caledonia. It is a great way to end your trip with your body and soul healed. I ate dinner at the hotel restaurant with my face clean and checked out at 9:00 p.m. I then drove to the airport. My 4-night, 6-day trip to New Caledonia finally came to an end.
