WILLER EXPRESS has released four convenient shrines for Hatsumode that are easy to reach by the company’s express buses.
The first is Izumo-taisha Shrine (Shimane Prefecture). The only direct transportation from Tokyo to Shimane Prefecture is by air, the JR “Sunrise Izumo” sleeper express (train), and highway buses; WILLER EXPRESS has a bus stop about a 4-minute walk from the Otorii Gate, and direct flights from Tokyo make access easier.
The second one is Ise Jingu Shrine (Mie Prefecture). The only direct transportation from Tokyo to Mie Prefecture is by highway bus, and WILLER EXPRESS also operates buses to and from the Tokyo metropolitan area. From the Ise-shi Eki-mae bus stop, it is an approximately 8-minute walk to the outer shrine. Another appealing point of this route is that it is operated by the new “PRIME” 4-row seat vehicles.
The third choice is Ikuta Shrine (Hyogo Prefecture). It is well accessible by train, but the WILLER EXPRESS bus stop is also very close, only a 5-minute walk to the second torii (second shrine gate). Buses run to Kobe Sannomiya not only from the Tokyo metropolitan area but also from Hiroshima, Matsuyama, and Fukuoka, making it an easy shrine to visit.
The last stop is Yasaka Shrine (Kyoto Prefecture). This is also easily accessible by train, but WILLER EXPRESS has set up a bus stop at Gion-Shijo Station, a 10-minute walk from the west gate of the shrine. WILLER EXPRESS recommends taking an overnight flight from the Tokyo metropolitan area without changing trains to avoid the crowds.
