Messe Properties held the grand opening of “MONSTER SAUNA” (B1F, 1-8-3 Kichijoji Honcho, Musashino-shi, Tokyo), a sauna that claims to be one of the largest in the world, today, December 25.

Located just a 2-minute walk from Kichijoji Station, the huge underground space of 230 tsubo (330 m2) is equipped with separate sauna rooms for men and women, a water bath, and a totoi space.

Hours of operation are from 8:00 to 24:00 (last admission at 23:00). Rates are 1480 yen per hour on weekdays (+500 yen per hour, maximum 3980 yen), 1980 yen per hour on weekends and holidays (+500 yen per hour). Every Tuesday is Ladies’ Day, and women receive a 500 yen discount off the regular rate (minimum 2 hours).

The men’s sauna room, with a capacity of 100 people, has a five-tiered bench with a wide range of temperatures from 70 to 110°C. Once every 10 minutes, visitors can experience “Niagara Lowryu,” in which a large volume of water pours down like a waterfall.

AROMA MOIST SAUNA, one of the largest women’s saunas in Japan with a capacity of approximately 30 people, is an aroma auto-laulu type sauna that heals with aroma and moisture, and has a three-stage bench with temperatures set between 80 and 100 degrees Celsius.

The water baths are large enough for both men and women to stretch their arms and legs, and are made of specially treated Musashino City tap water (containing 80% groundwater) pumped up from 250 meters underground, which is like natural mineral water with no chlorine smell or turbidity. The water temperature is controlled by the world’s first water temperature control system, which changes the temperature from a cool 9°C to a moderate 20°C, depending on the position of the bather.

There is also a wide range of space types, including the “Silent Area,” which is completely quiet with a variety of chairs, including infinity chairs and full-flat chairs, and the “Communication Area,” where you can work on a PC or have a conversation. All of these spaces can be used while wearing swimsuits, and can be casually enjoyed by families and friends.
