New Year’s Day sunrise The sun appeared from the opposite direction from Waikiki, but the light shining from Diamond Head made for a fantastic sunrise. Although there were many clouds, the sky was brightly tinted amidst the sound of waves and silence, making this a picture of the beginning of the year 2023.
A view from Makapu’u Cape, known for its whale viewing until around March. Rabbit Island can be seen on the right, Turtle Island in the back center, and Makapu’u Beach in the left foreground, where locals boldly challenge the waves on their bodyboards. The view from here reminds us that the earth is round.
Sunset over the ocean seen from a small park in Kaimuki Kaimuki was once home to many Japanese Americans. Today, it is a town where unique stores, cafes, and eateries are concentrated and locals gather. On top of a small hill here is a mini park (Puu O Kaimuki Park) that the locals call “Christmas Tree Park. During the winter season, the sun setting over the ocean can be seen from here.
Double Rainbow at the End of the Rainy Season Hawaii is considered to have a rainy season from October to around April; it rarely rains all day long, and after a quick rain called a shower, the gift of a rainbow. A double rainbow can be seen in a significant percentage of the time.
The start of the flower season Although flowers bloom in Hawaii basically all year round, the on-season is summer, when plumeria, shower trees, hibiscus, and other flowers are in full bloom from around May. The “Bird of Paradise” was impressive because it looked like a bird peeking out from the center of its pinnate, vertical leaves and looking at the sky.
Majestic mountains are part of the face of Hawaii. The Waimanalo area is located in the eastern part of Oahu.
