New Year’s Message: Shingo Tsuji, President, Mori Building

Posted on 2024-01-052024-01-07 by Editor in Chief

Connecting multiple Hills will create a new magnetic force in Tokyo

Beyond new horizons, various opportunities and unlimited possibilities

Mori Building Co.

President and Representative Director

Shingo Tsuji

The year 2024 is “the year to think about Mori Building from a new horizon.

Last year, we accomplished something never experienced in the long history of Mori Building, opening Toranomon Hills Station Tower and Azabudai Hills at almost the same time. This year, we will firmly nurture the area, including the facilities and stores that will open sequentially, so that it will function to the fullest as a single town. We will collaborate with partners of diverse genres and people in the city, exchange ideas, and create mechanisms and structures that embody the concept of each city.

Since the time of Chairman Minoru Mori, Mori Building had been working on a grand vision to create a new international metropolis by redeveloping existing urban areas in the city center to create a number of compact cities where various urban functions are concentrated within walking distance of each other, in order for Tokyo to survive the international urban competition. At the time, no one believed in this vision, but now, 20 years after its opening, Roppongi Hills has recorded record numbers of visitors and sales, and with the completion of Toranomon Hills and the opening of Azabudai Hills, many people believe in Mori Building’s vision and recognize that the company has the ability to execute to achieve its goals. They recognize that Mori Building has the ability to execute and achieve its vision.

Once the two new Hills are on track and further Hills are connected, they will become a powerful magnetic force in Tokyo. In addition, the company’s management base will be further strengthened, its brand power and credibility will be further enhanced, and we will be elevated to another stage or two. Beyond these new horizons, there are a variety of opportunities and unlimited possibilities, depending on how we do things.

No two Hills are alike. We must always come up with new tricks and mechanisms that suit each Hills, without being constrained by past successes or manuals. There is a big difference between “those who think and think and seek out new ways of doing things” and “those who just apply the old ways of doing things. I hope that all of you will be the former. Let’s continue to challenge and grow together this year, in true Mori Building fashion.
