JR East has announced that for the timetable revision to be implemented on March 16, a total of two up trains on the Keiyo Line will be changed from local stop trains to rapid trains during the morning hours.
The subject is one train each departing from Soga Station at 6:00 a.m. from the Uchibo Line and the Sotobo Line directly to the Keiyo Line. Trains on the Uchibo and Sotobo Lines stop at each station. In addition, all other rapid trains and commuter rapid trains in the morning and evening will stop at each station as previously announced.
The revised timetable was initially announced as follows: all morning and evening rapid trains and commuter rapid trains will be replaced by local trains (rapid trains will be operated only from 10:00 to 15:00). In response, JR East Chiba Branch Director Tsuchizawa visited Chiba City Hall on December 28 to explain the situation to the mayor and others.
By eliminating the rapid service during busy hours, the company aims to improve convenience at stations where the rapid service passes through and shorten the time required for the local train.
