AQUARIUM×ART átoa” (7-2 Shinko-cho, Chuo-ku, Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture), an aquarium in Kobe City, will reopen its “átoa LAB” on March 8. Admission is 2,400 yen for adults (junior high school students and older), 1,400 yen for elementary school students, 800 yen for infants (3 years and older), and free for children under 3 years old.
The “FOYER Exploration Room,” with its impressive overhang aquarium filled with natural light, was completely renovated. While the aquarium with pirarucu, arowanas, and other fish was retained, the walls of the zone were filled with bookshelves. The bookcases are overhead, and chairs allow visitors to enter and sit in the bookcases, creating a luxurious space surrounded by books. The space itself is also scattered throughout with a variety of specimens lined up on the bookshelves, signage, and lighting.
More than 2,500 books are lined up under seven themes, including “From the Birth of Life to Evolution. Visitors can freely take a look at a wide variety of books, including illustrated books on a wide range of living creatures as well as picture books for children and adults. In addition, the museum will continue to provide explanations of the exhibits, spread awareness of research contents, and other academic content to pique intellectual curiosity.
