On February 21, Shoeisha released “DISNEY DRAWING: Drawing and Enjoying 100 Years of Disney,” a book that unravels the history of Disney animation from the process of drawing and the approach to animation. 240 A4-size pages, priced at 4,180 yen.

The rare artwork of 100 different Disney characters and the techniques used to draw them provide a glimpse into 100 years of evolution and history. The book covers popular characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Oswald and Pete, as well as CG characters from recent hits including “Anna and the Snow Queen 2” and “Mirabelle and the House Full of Magic. 100 characters are listed and introduced by decade, from the 1920s to the 2020s.

Drawing is explained in a step-by-step manner. The book provides a step-by-step guide to basic drawing, from the beginning to the end, so that the reader can learn and master the same techniques as Disney’s artists. One of the authors is Disney legend Andreas Deja, who has spent his entire career at Disney, and he generously shares his techniques.

It also includes unknown episodes of the characters that fans will appreciate. It is a substantial collection of drawings and readings.
