UNIQLO will release “CAPCOM 40th UT,” a collection celebrating Capcom’s 40th anniversary, on March 25.
Kosuke Kawamura, creative director of the graphic T-shirt “UT,” selected seven of the most famous titles in video game history: “Makai Mura,” “Mega Man,” “Final Fight,” “Street Fighter II,” “Devil May Cry,” “Monster Hunter,” and “Resident Evil RE:4. Collaboration. In addition, a special design featuring a collage of the characters will be added to the lineup for a total of eight types of garments. Each is available in sizes XS-4XL and priced at 1,990 yen each.
Prior to the release, an original Capcom-supervised UT game, “UT ADVENTURE,” was released on the online store’s special page. The game is an “action shopping game” consisting of three stages, in which the main character aims to retrieve the “CAPCOM 40th UT,” which has been stolen by aliens, while battling them.
With a retro atmosphere reminiscent of 40 years ago, when CAPCOM was founded, the content can be enjoyed by both those who were familiar with games back then and those who are not familiar with 8-bit games.
Stage 1, which opened on February 23, features Street Fighter characters in the motif of a UNIQLO store, while Stage 2, which will open in March, is a collaboration with Mega Man. In “Stage 3,” which will reveal the ending of the game, there will be a campaign to win one of only 40 “mini arcade game machines” in the world.
