Hyatt and Tokyu Land Corporation opened Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya (3-3 Sakuragaoka-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) on February 26. Prior to the opening, a preview was held for the press. Hyatt House is a mid- to long-term stay hotel brand based on the concept of “stay as you live,” with the Hyatt House Kanazawa already located at the Kanazawa Port Exit of Kanazawa Station, and this will be its first entry into Tokyo. It will be located on the 1st to 3rd and 6th to 16th floors of the “SAKURA Side (B-area)” of Shibuya Sakura Stage, which was completed on November 30, 2023, adjacent to the west exit of Shibuya Station and the JR line, and connected to Shibuya Station via a pedestrian deck.
The pedestrian deck provides easy access to the station gates. The entrance to the Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya is on the third floor of the pedestrian deck, accessed from the Nigiwai STAGE, which straddles the urban planning road (auxiliary line street No. 18) named “SAKURA Street”. From the 3rd floor of this deck, it is possible to walk to Shibuya Stream on the side beyond the JR line, and then to Shibuya Scramble Square (East Building) without being divided by tracks or roads. It is now much easier to stroll and shop around the station. The deck also provides good access to the Shibuya Station ticket gates. The closest route is from the “New South Gate” on the 2nd floor of JR station via the “Nigiwai STAGE” on the 3rd floor, which can be accessed by using the deck without going down to the 1st floor. A new ticket gate is scheduled to be completed near the “SHIBUYA side” (in the center of Shibuya Sakura Stage) on the passageway leading to Shibuya Stream. On the “Nigiwai STAGE” where the entrance is located, there is an objet d’art with elements inspired by cherry blossoms, and light, sound, and mist showers are used to produce a variety of effects. The light effects are particularly impressive at night, as they vary from day to day. The light effects are also changed according to the surrounding conditions by using sensors to detect sounds and other elements in the area.
