The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement (L/A) with the government of the Republic of Honduras on March 20 in Tegucigalpa, the capital of the country, for up to 11,703 million yen for the “Hospital Network Strengthening Project.
Medical facilities in Honduras are aging, making it difficult to secure adequate equipment and beds, and there is a shortage of specialists and other medical personnel to meet the needs.
This project will build an emergency hospital in the capital Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, the second largest city in the country, and provide necessary equipment, strengthen cooperation among hospitals, and train medical personnel. The project aims to improve access to and quality of medical services for emergency patients, and will contribute to SDG (Sustainable Development Goal) Goal 3 (health and well-being for all).
